The Essential Guide to Disney Vacation Club Membership

There are about 220,000 members of the Disney Vacation Club.

If you’re going to be vacationing somewhere around Disney often, joining the Disney Vacation Club might actually be beneficial for you.

However, there are many things you should know about the DVC before you join. We’ll break it all down for you here!

What is the Club?

The DVC is a vacation ownership program, like a timeshare.

As a member of this club, you’ll be able to invest in properties that will give you an easier way to take your Disney vacations.

How Does it Work?

When you buy into this club, you’re actually buying a deeded real estate interest. It’s represented by Vacation Points as well.

To enjoy these benefits, you’ll first have to find a home resort that you want to purchase. This is what you will own the real estate interest in, and you’ll get first priority book there. You’ll be able to book it eleven months in advance at a certain resort.

After you’ve found this resort, you can pick a points range that fits your budget and what you need for your family vacation. The points range will cost different things, and there are six different point categories to choose from.

Some of the factors that determine the point range is what type of hotel it is, how exotic it is, what time of the year you’ll travel, and how long you’ll stay there.

However, regardless of how many points you purchase, the value of your points won’t change even if the prices for the Disney resort rises.

Can You Save on Rentals?

When you book a rental for your Disney trip, you can actually save money on it as well, which is one of the many benefits of being a part of the DVC.

You’ll be able to use your points to get a cheaper rate at a hotel or resort than you would get booking it while not in the vacation club.

Are They Like Hotel Rooms?

When you book through the DVC, you won’t get just a hotel room. In fact, you’ll get a little villa that can be like your second home.

They’re more like a larger apartment with a queen bed, a couch, a bathroom, and a kitchen. The villas come in all kinds of different sizes, from one-bedrooms to three bedrooms. You could also get a grand villa.

In the kitchen, you’ll also get a stove, fridge, and all kinds of other amenities. You can buy groceries and store them here so that you can cook at home and save money from eating out every night.

If you have to do laundry in your room, you can also enjoy a free washer and dryer.

Are Amenities Included?

Having a washer and dryer and a fully stocked kitchen is only one of the few benefits that you’ll enjoy while staying at one of these villas. You’ll also enjoy all of the amenities you normally would’ve gotten if you booked a regular room at the Disney resort.

You may even get better benefits. You’ll get some amenities including free transportation to the resort, airport, and parks. However, this is only applicable if you are traveling to Florida.

Also only in Florida, you’ll be able to get Magic Bands that will allow you access to the parks.

You can also have access to book all the FastPasses for your attractions 60 days in advance, allowing you to get the rides you really want.

In addition to that, you can make your dinner reservations 180 days in advance. You can also add a Disney Dining Plan to your reservation that will help you plan your meals on your trip.

Where Can You Find Some Rental Locations?

You’ll be able to find these rental locations around Disney World and Disneyland.

Around Disney World, you’ll be able to stay at these following resorts:

  • Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas
  • Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort
  • Disney’s BoardWalk Villas
  • Disney’s Old Key West Resort
  • Disney Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa
  • Disney Riviera Resort
  • Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalow

At Disneyland, you can stay at the Villas at Disney’s Grand California Hotel and Spa. However, there are many other places you can stay at a Disney resort, like in Hawaii or Fort Vero Beach.

However, in order to make sure that you get a reservation at one of these places, make sure that you try and book it as early as possible. There is a limited supply of rooms you can reserve, and many other people will try to reserve them early as well.

Are There Any Fees?

When you book a hotel or an Airbnb, you’ll likely get hit with all kinds of fees, but booking with the DVC will help you to avoid all these fees.

You won’t have to pay any parking, resort, tourism, or hotel fees when you book a Disney timeshare. However, if you do book a room in Hawaii, you may have to pay a small fee at check-in.
